Welcome to another Five on Friday! Let’s get right into the business!
My family spent the entire week working Vacation Bible School (VBS) at our church. The days were looonngg and the kids have been knocked out every night when they get home but it was amazing! The set was beautiful and watching kids sing at the top of their lungs about the love of Jesus is enough to make me sob like a baby.
I lead the music so I get the best view of their smiling faces and their enthusiasm is contagious!
Me at VBS. The theme is Shipwrecked.
Yesterday was the end of an era. A sad day for all. I was finally, officially removed from my parents phone plan. (Cue the tears.) The last piece of the cord has been cut. Some of you might be saying, “You’re in your 30’s. It’s about time.” For me, though, I was planning on riding that free phone wave until it crashed onto the beach. (Which it finally did, yesterday.) My dad has been bringing up the idea of me getting off of their phone plan casually over the last year. I finally could not dodge it anymore and found myself in AT&T getting booted off of his plan and put on to my husbands. My phone bill is now stupid high and I feel blue about having to have a business relationship with AT&T again. (We used to have their cable and I am still traumatized by the awfulness of it all.)
Somehow, AT&T suckered us into getting new phones too. (They dangled a BOGO deal in front of my husband when I went to the car.) So I am a proud owner of an iPhone 8. The great news is that it will probably be outdated in a few months. Solid investment, said no one ever.
We are prepping for vacation and I am in straight up panic mode. Does anyone else feel like their spouse gets off easy when it comes to packing. He has to pack one suitcase, for one person. I, on the other hand, have to pack for myself, 3 kids, get the dog ready to go to someone else house, prepare my house, do laundry…..basically all of the things.
I know that he would help me if I asked (he really is a doll), but then he would probably do it wrong and I would have to re-do everything…..so, why bother.
Today, I am getting a Keratin treatment to my roots. After having the baby, I had a massive amount of breakage followed by new growth. Those new hairs are about 4 inches long and are being ridiculous. When I attempt to wear my hair curly it grows 10 sizes because those pieces puff up. Humidity has also been the bane of my existence. I have done full head Keratin in the past but felt like it was too much. My curls were sad looking and it took forever for them to return to their natural shape. I am hoping that doing the roots will give me better control while still being able to have some kind of curl.
Grape scented so my hair will not smell like a chemical plant.
This week was my dad’s 70th birthday. He is truly an angel human and has been the best dad to me and papa to my kids. We are throwing him a big party on Saturday and he has no idea that several of his friends will be making special appearances. We also have a few other surprises up our sleeves. I can’t wait to surprise the mess out of him!

What are you up to this weekend? I hope its is a great one!
