Beauty Must Haves

Happy Hump Day!

I am way late getting this post up but today I wanted to do a round up of some of my favorite beauty products. Some of these have been staples of mine for years and others are new favorites that I have stumbled upon only recently. For reference, I have sensitive skin but it airs on the side of normal to dry. I have yellow-ish undertones and am light olive-y skin toned.

+ My number one must have, I have been using it since I was in high school (which was many moons ago), is Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer.

Oil of olay

My skin is stupid sensitive. A smidge of the wrong product on my face, and the whole thing will break out in crusty rash and flakey patches. It’s awesome. I apply this every day under my make up. It is light and absorbs quickly. It has SPF in it but you would never know because you can’t smell it or notice it in the texture of the cream. I buy the one for sensitive skin and have never strayed because it is that good! It also costs <$10 and can be found everywhere, so I am basically winning at life with this one!

+While on the topic of creams, I have to mention my favorite eye cream. KIEHL’S Creamy Eye Cream Treatment with Avocado.

KIEHLS

I had some reservations about slathering avocado oils all around my eye ball area but with its stellar reviews, I figured it would be worth a try. I mean, I used to flat iron my hair with an actual iron, so clearly, I am a risk taker.

I am, also, a straight up cheap-o, so at the price of $29.00, buying this product was hard for me to stomach. The skin around my eyes is the most sensitive area on my face so I felt like investing in a product that wouldn’t puff them up two sizes would be worth it. The texture is thick and feels a little weird when you put it on the skin. It is almost like it turns oily? I’m not really sure but it doesn’t make my eyes freak out and it makes the skin around my eyes look bright and lovely, so I will continue to keep this one in my make up bag. (Side note – the jar is tiny – but it lasts forever.)

+Lets make a move over to under eye concealers. For a long time, I was using a Dior store concealer sample as my under eye concealer because I could not be bothered to go to the store to purchase a new one. It worked beautifully and I milked that thing to the last drop, but since I am not working with Dior kind of cash, I found an alternative that I like, dare I say, better?! Enter, Neutrogena Healthy Skin Brightening Eye Perfector.

NEUTROGENIA

I picked up this bad boy after having a bad experience with a NYX option and really like it. I bought the color “BUFF” and definitely feel like it helps to brighten the situation under my eyes. You have to twist the brush for product to come out (which sometimes I feel wastes the product) but it does what it says and my keep my eyes crust free. (Are you noticing a pattern here with my make up choices?) The price is around $11 which seems to be pretty reasonable based on some of the others that I considered purchasing.

+Next up, is another long time favorite. Revlon Colorstay Pressed Powder.

I have been using this powder ffoooorrreevvvverr. I use the medium/deep option. I can go a full 12 hour shift at work, come home in the morning and it is all, for the most part, still in place. I use my handy dandy make up remover wipe and the evidence of its long wear claims are right there in front of me. I like to apply it with a big fluffy brush. It is priced under $10 so that alone fills me with happiness!

+ My next favorite product is a mascara. I don’t really have an allegiance to any mascara in particular and usually pick whatever has the prettiest bottle but on my last shopping trip, I read a few reviews before picking up my latest tube. The chosen one? L’oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise.

Someone told me that Meghan Markle uses this one too so I am basically at princess, well duchess, status right now. Whether Meg uses this one or not, I cannot attest to but I have been using it for several weeks now and love it. I buy the blackest black and find that it really makes my lashes thick and voluminous. My lashes are normally nothing to write home about, but with this mascara, they are the life of the party. My only complaint is that the end of the brush is a little thick so sometimes I get mascara on my face when trying to get the little lashes coated. It doesn’t bother me that much though and it’s nothing a quick swipe of a q-tip can’t fix. The price is on point so I would definitely repurchase when this tube runs out.

+Lastly, an item that is not a make up but still a beauty favorite is GNC Women’s Hair, Skin and Nails Formula.

I have been using these vitamins for about 1 month now in an attempt to recapture the youth that my children are slowly stealing from me. I see a difference in my skin and my hair. My nails, not so much, but maybe with time I will notice a difference there. My husband even told me the other day that my skin was glowing and told me to go take a pregnancy test. (For the record, I am not pregnant, just taking a great vitamin!) One bottle (1 month supply) is $10 and they also have an option for a larger bottle at $18.99.

As for other make up items, I don’t use foundation and do not really have a preference for my blush, highlight, bronzer or brow filler. I have been dabbling in different lipsticks but haven’t really found anything that I love just yet.

What are some of your beauty must haves?
