HER NAME WAS LOLA. SHE WAS A…..TAMPON?

You read that correctly! Today, We are talking about periods. More specifically, this great company called LOLA that I stumbled upon a few months ago. Please note, I did not get compensated for this review. I pay for my LOLA subscription and they do not know that I exist or that I am writing this review. Oh, the life of a new blogger.

My menstrual story started at the ripe age of 10. I was terrified about what was happening to my body and did not tell a soul that my flow arrived until 6 months later. I told my dad, randomly on the ride home from school. He bought me flowers the next day. Thanks Dad!

I struggled with the uncomfortableness of pads for years because the idea of tampons freaked me out. My first tampon experience, yea we are going there, was at summer camp. I thought I would try to look cool in front of my friends and asked the camp nurse for a tampon. She handed me a massive, cardboard tampon and I proceeded to head into the bathroom and get things done. Without getting into too many details……things did not go well. The tampon reigned victorious.

Thankfully, the tampon (and most other lady products) have gone through a major update. The companies have made them much more user friendly and the horror of the cardboard tampon days are virtually over.

One thing that has not seemed to change much though, is the insane amount of chemicals that are in/used to make tampons. A quick google search will leave you feeling horrified at the crap you have been sticking in your body! I’m talking potential carcinogens, products that have been treated with pesticides etc.

As an oncology nurse, I am literally surrounded by cancer, so anything that I can do to try decrease my risks of getting it, I am game. I have been slowly removing toxins from my home and upping my tampon game fell in that territory.

LOLA is a subscription tampon/pad service and they are made of 100% organic cotton. They have also recently expanded to include other feminine hygiene products, menstrural support etc. You have the option to build a box or multiple boxes (in case you need multiple things.)

You control how often you get deliveries and they even email you a few days before your box is shipped in case you need to make changes. Need to skip a month on you shipment? No problem! Do you want to receive 8 supers and 8 regulars. It can be done! If you can think it, it is probably possible with LOLA.

I have been very happy with the product, the quality and absorbancy. I have found that they work just as well as the Tampax Pearls that I was using.

My personal LOLA stash. When my supply got to “extra” status, I was easily able to adjust my subscription.

I would love to hear your thoughts on LOLA. Have you tried their service? What do you think of it?!
